Quick-Prep Fruit and Veggie Smoothie Bags

These could not be easier to prep. Keep them in the freezer and dump them into your blender when you need a quick, healthy meal or snack that tastes amazing!

The blueberries in this smoothie are loaded with antioxidants and create a beautiful purple color, and can camouflage the color of any other veggie!

Banana and strawberry add sweetness and help cover the taste of any vegetables that you add. The spinach has really no taste, just be sure to blend this with enough liquid to get the carrots and spinach as smooth as possible.

We love our our Vitamix for this task, and use the individual cup accessory to make this single serve, to order. It makes the kids feel pretty fancy to drink it out of their own blender cups!

Preparation Suggestions:

Layer the ingredients so the blender can do its job effectively.  Put the protein powder closer to the blade so it doesn't get stuck at the top of your container. For our Vitamix single serve, that means putting it in second to last, since the blade screws on to the top of the cup. I also suggest the blueberries go in furthest from the blades. They weigh down the other ingredients enough to keep them moving toward the blade, and it's pretty magical when they suddenly turn the whole mixture a deep purple!

If you like your smoothies to be very thick like a milk shake, stick with this amount of almond milk. However, if you prefer them thinner, or to stretch this between two people, add a little more liquid, maybe an additional 1/2 cup.

Tips: Vitamix stands behind their products, and picking up a "renewed" blender for a fraction of the cost of a new one could make it possible to get this workhorse onto your counter!
